If you are using a Windows 7 computer and trying to connect to a remote printer, there is a good chance that you have encountered a mysterious:
“Windows cannot connect to printer”.
A good example is a user using Windows 7 trying to connect to an exisiting Windows 2003 print server with one or more print queues. Some of the printers can be installed and others may give an error. Note this is not related to first time setup problems.
If you have a handful of users, it is possible to insert the drivers locally and connect to the print server. If you have hundreds of users, this is not practical.
There is now hope. I have tested it out and it works. link
