Møller-Maersk, yes that Maersk suffered a complete outage that spread to throughout their entire organization,  hot DR site and their backups. The only saving grace was an offline domain controller due to local power issues.

Service was restored via a scorch earth method.  Staff have to surrender their old computers. New computers were purchased using credit cards, imaged and deployed.  While the servers are restored, the business was conducted using WhatsApp.

The lesson learnt here is keeping deep archival backups of the domain controllers.  In the event of the mass infection, maybe an old tape can save the day.
