Alfred's New Ramblings

Things I learn in 2023

Some key learning points.

1. You don’t try, you won’t know

After years of running NitrogenOS on my phone, switching over to PixelOS gave me back Application Timers.

2. Excel Slicer to build more user-friendly pivot tables

3. Python programming – mainly in handling IOS configs and inventory output.

4. iPerf – to test network bandwidth.

5. Sharepoint and Onedrive integration

This is a productivity multiplier. Everything is on your local disk and you can use your favourite tools to work

6. After action review

This helps you to plan better, especially for the same type of event.

7. How to use GitHub with Pycharm

8. Keep your main certification current. Otherwise it is very difficult to change a job. Think of it as your parachute.

Bad learning points

A. Not everything needs a response. Sometimes things can self resolve. Meeting clash and unable to reschedule. Chill, sometimes it gets pushed because a bigger stakeholder can’t make it.

B. If your boss wants you to scream alarm when nothing gets your way, you just got to do it.
