Upgrading from Android 13 to Android 14 was nearly glass-smooth for my Poco X3 NFC
For my device, the PixelOS developer on XDA, @ragy747has sold his Poco X3. The Nitrogen developer @xyyx has gone over to the Pixel camp. With the Android 15 beta rolling out, the Android 14 custom build should have its bugs fixed. So I went with an unofficial (in XDA terms) build by @David112x on Telegram. Android 14 build, I will review in another post after I have a longer hands-on.
The upgrade process from 13 to 14 was nearly glass-smooth. Google restore all apps from the Play Store. All apps include those I have installed and removed. System settings, saved Wi-Fi networks, system alarms and timers returned. Bluetooth devices were not restored.
I did not format the storage as I am too lazy to restore the SD card folder. That caused the problems with WhatsApp. Even though it was saying to restore chats and media from my GDrive backup, it didn’t do it properly. Post-upgrade chats with pictures, I could not download. Nor I could send any pictures. It gave an error:
"Sorry this media file does not exist on your internal storage"
The only way to fix this is to uninstall the WhatsApp app, do not check “Keep media”. Reinstall WhatsApp and restore the backup.
The Keepass app has a similar problem. Clear the storage and cache, and open the database again.
Now I have to install Magisk again.
