Some key learning points
- Doing the same project for years really screws up your fundamentals. In some areas you don’t get to practice and you get really rusty.
- Every company’s capabilities and skills are different. Do not assume. Always ask.
- Make explicitly sure everyone has the same understanding. By email!
- Stick to your compensation ask.
- Always remember to switch your pitch for the interview requirements. If it is a vendor or customer project manager, code switch accordingly.
- Recruitment agencies don’t follow up with you. You have to chase them to keep you on their radar.
- In times of darkness, sometimes you have to focus to see the light. This helps me to keep moving forward.
